About the Whisky 2 x 200ml set Founded in 2016, Shizuoka Distillery utilises two different stills to produce her distillate, ie “ex-Karuizawa” and Wood-Fired stills. The ex-Karuizawa still is the only still remaining from the famed Karuizawa distillery and the Wood-Fired still is the only still in the world that uses wood to heat the still. The wood is sustainably sourced from the surrounding forest. The two stills produce unique characteristic notes and Contact “S” is a marriage of the two stills. 【Prologue K】- Distilled by "K"aruizawa wash still- Matured over 3 years- A blend from 31 different casks- first-fill Bourbon barrels- Made from half imported malt and half Japan-grown malt 【Prologue W】- Distilled by "W"ood-fired wash still- Matured over 3 years- A blend from 31 different casks- first-fill Bourbon casks (barrel & quarter), virgin American oak cask- Made from mainly Japan-grown malt, peated malt & non-peat malt from Scotland, beer malt from Germany.
